Maryland armed security guard certifications are only permitted to individuals who have been hired to be referred by their hiring agencies, local county or police department.

However, basic requirements may be as follows:

• Must be at least 21 years old

• United States citizen or registered resident alien

• Drug testing (which may be ongoing)

• Pass criminal background check

• Must have good moral character

• Have not committed any acts of fraud

• Submit to fingerprinting

• Maryland driver’s License

• Good physical conditioning

• Within good mental stability

• Weapon permit

• Proof of firearms training and safety from certified instructor
