This course meets the training requirements to apply for a Concealed Carry permit in Virginia. The course will consist of a minimum 4 hours of instruction, including both classroom and live fire training. In the classroom, students will learn fundamentals of firearm safety, ammunition, storage, and practical considerations of concealed carry. Using SIRT guns, students will practice handling and marksmanship, including: loading and unloading, grip, stance, trigger pull and eye dominance. In addition to learning the laws related to concealment, students will learn what constitutes self defense in Virginia, the importance of mindset, conflict avoidance, and less lethal options, and what to expect in the aftermath of a self defense situation. Students will then adjourn to a local range to practice these skills in live fire.
*You do not need to own a firearm to take this class.
Class Requirements:
Range fees are NOT included in the class fee.
100 rounds of ammunition - student supplied
For safety, please wear high-necked or collared shirts and closed-toe shoes.
Students may wish to wear a belt for some exercises.
If you have eye and ear protection, please bring them. If not, your instructor can provide these at no additional charge.

With prior notice, students may reschedule one time at no charge. Class credit must be used within 90 days of the original class date.
Please arrive on time. Notify the instructor if you must be tardy. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late without notice may be admitted at the discretion of the instructor.
Scorpion Defense can supply a firearm for training or qualification at no additional charge. All ammunition used in Scorpion firearms must be purchased from Scorpion or purchased at the range at the time of use.
Federal law requires all participants to be one of the following: a U.S. citizen with valid photo ID (driver’s license, Real ID, or U.S. passport); a naturalized citizen with valid photo ID; a Permanent Resident with valid photo ID.
