Maryland Wear and Carry Permit
Classroom/Virtual Training Hours: 8 Hr Virtual Training/5 Hr Class and Range
The Maryland Wear and Carry application requires that all applicants must complete a classroom and range assessment, they will receive guidance on the needed steps for the application process from their instructor. We will cover the importance of firearm safety, situational awareness, personal protection, and the basic nomenclature and operation of handguns, where you can and can't carry your firearm in the state of Maryland, as well as Maryland's laws on self-defense and the use of deadly force. This course is avail in both in-person and hybrid sessions. Hybrid sessions are 2-day classes where students will classroom learning virtually and hands-on firearm training in person.
Before you can obtain your wear and carry in the state of Maryland the applicant must apply and be approved by the Maryland State Police wear and carry application process. The applicant must have a good and substantial reason in order to be approved, this is due to Maryland being a "may issue" state. All applications must be submitted or renewed through the Licensing portal.
*A criminal background check is conducted for all applicants when submitting an application after training.
The customer must be at least 18 - 21+ to obtain a Maryland Wear and Carry permit and attend class. This permit is available to be obtained by current residents or non-residents of the state.
